Telescopes & Microscopes: Celebrating Diversity in Physics at SU

On November 19, 2021, SU Physics will host a hybrid symposium featuring a diverse set of SU Physics alums talking about their work on topics ranging from gravitational waves to living matter. The symposium will run from 11:30AM to 2:30PM EST. For those near the SU campus, you can listen to the speakers in PB202/204, where there will also be snacks provided. Please attend and join in support of our alums presenting their ground-breaking work.

11:40 am – Professor Tav Hawkins, St. Catherine University: Is a microtubule rigid?
12:25 pm – Q&A 1 + 5 minute break
1:00 pm – Dr. Derek Davis, CalTech: Finding out what makes LIGO go bump in the night
1:25 pm – Professor Jax Sanders, Marquette University: Designing gravitational wave detectors for a multimessenger future
2:00 pm – Q&A 2 + Close-out
